   This bin is amazing. It looks great. Nice and large. And smooth opening and closing with foot pedal. The lock slides back and forth to use and is a great addition with having pets. Wish I’d bought this sooner. More than I would usually spend on a kitchen bin but so worth it.

   My sister had one of these and I just needed one. We have a 65 lbs standard poodle who seems to think that the garbage is for him when nobody is around. When I saw my sisters had a lock on the lid I ordered myself one. He can tip it over and it stays locked! He can’t open the lid with his snout due to the lock. Besides that I do love the Grey over the black. I just use Glad size regular bags and they fit amazing. My sister uses the Glad size large and it works great for her. I definitely recommend this can!

   Al na een half jaar gebruik schiet deksel uit zijn scharnieren en moet je deze elke keer terug duwen. Inmiddels schiet hij er al uit als je heel zachtjes op het voetpedaal drukt. Slecht ontwerp en het opsturen van een nieuwe deksel is geen oplossing want dan heb je hetzelfde probleem weer na een half jaar. NIET KOPEN!

   Genial! J’adore cette poubelle! Je ne regrette pas du tout cet achat! Elle est costaud, esthétique, pratique, le prix est raisonnable par rapport a d’autre poubelle et qui je pense, ne pourrais pas être mieux… L’avancée à l’arrière de la poubelle permet d’ouvrir le couvercle empêchant que celui ci ne tape contre le mur, cela évite donc qu’il ne s’abîme. La pédale en metal est fiable, le plastique epais et solide, l’ouverture est très grande, il n’y a certe pas de bac amovible, mais j’y loge des sac 50l en faisant un petit retour sur le rebord, c’est suffisant pour qu’il ne ce vois pas de l’extérieur, et il ne s’affaisse pas non plus de l’intérieur. Je suis vraiment contente de mon achat!

   The World’s Most Perfect Kitchen Trash Can!!!!!!
   Even though my wife and I have been married for 35 years, we still disagree about things around the house. One of those disagreements had to do with the waste basket we used in the kitchen. Me, being the slob around the house, my main pre-requisite for a trash is that it is available, and convenient. This means it cannot be in a cabinet and it cannot have a lid that I have to open with my hands every time. Sometimes using my hands to open a lid isn’t practical, or possible.My wife on the other hand, feels that a lid on the trash can is very important. Understandably so because it covers the unsightly trash and it reduces the odors that will sometimes emanate from the trash in the can. However, if I’m carrying something that requires two hands, or my hands have food residue on them, the cover on a trash can drives me nuts. So, the only reasonable option for us was to find a trash can with the foot actuated lid.That sounds much easier than it really was. We searched for months but could not find one that was practical. Most were flimsy and I knew would not hold up very long. Also, all of the ones we looked at were too small and so would require too many bag changes. If we did find one that was big enough and sturdy, it would be way too expensive.Finally one day my wife told me she had ordered a foot operated trash can from Amazon. When it came I was AMAZED. This trash can is perfect in EVERY way. Even though the unit is made from some kind of plastic material, it is sturdy. The frame around the bottom is a solid steel as is the pedal that you step on to open the lid. In addition to sturdy, this trash can is big. it is a perfect size for a kitchen and our “Tall Kitchen” trash bags just fit. The band of the bag folds over the top edges and stays in place until it is time to remove the full bag and replace it. The final feature which earns this trash can the title of “World’s Perfect Kitchen Trash Can” is that for those times when you have several things to put in the can, or you are peeling vegetables into the can and you want the lid to stay open, it will. If you open the lid with your hand, instead of your foot, the lid will stay open. That feature is pure genius.We have had this trash can for a year now and I’m still as impressed with it as I was at the beginning. Nothing has malfunctioned or shown any signs of wear yet.Pros: 1. Well built, very sturdy construction 2. Good size, fits a standard tall kitchen trash bag 3. Great design and veratility: – Lid opens smoothly with foot pedal – Lid closes smoothly using air dampening technology -Lid will stay open if opened all the way by hand 4.    Finally keeps my 75lb Labradoodle and autistic 5 year old out of the garbage!!
   I’ll keep this short and sweet. Our 75lb Labradoodle is currently on a very strict diet for 6 weeks to determine if he has a food allergy. Needless to say he hates it, and despite his very good training and usually impeccable behavior, he has begun knocking over the garbage can to rummage for scraps when we’re not home (see pic). NAUGHTY DOG!!! Obviously we can’t have this going on every day so I ordered this can right away in hopes that it would put Mr. Dog in his place. I have one word for how well it works: Checkmate! This is a very big, very smart dog and he is no match for this garbage can! HOORAY! It is well built, heavy duty, well designed and the lock keeps the lid securely in place even if he knocks it over. This is our first time with a step to open can. I have always been skeptical because it seems like the step function always breaks. So far so good with this one! I think the way it’s designed it will last for a very long time. The lid opens fast but shuts slow, which isn’t a problem for us. You can also still open and shut it the old fashioned way with your hand which I appreciate. It looks about as elegant as a garbage can CAN look without costing a fortune. I love the wall separator feature (I don’t know the technical name for it) but it’s really handy in keeping it the perfect distance from our cabinetry so it has no trouble opening and closing and doesn’t rub up against the wood. Another thing I LOVE is that it came with a package of sample trash bags to use! So far I really like those as well and will probably be putting them on my Amazon Subscribe and Save list! The can comes with a 5 year warranty which is AWESOME! Most importantly, this can holds a LOT of trash!! Most of the step cans I’ve seen in stores are little circles or squares that are way too small for our needs. I LOVE the size of this can! See side by side comparison pics to our old Sterilite can. The lock works wonders and not only keeps the dog out but my autistic 5 year old as well!I only have 2 minor complaints. The first is that it took a LOT of effort to get the lid to snap into place when I put it together for the first time, but now that it’s on it is extremely secure. The second is that it’s nearly impossible to lock and unlock the lid with one hand. That’s a big bummer, but certainly not a deal breaker. If I could take off half a star for that I would.I never thought I would be a huge fan of a garbage can, but I can officially say that I am now! Thanks for doing it right, simplehuman! Hopefully this helps someone else with a similar problem. And for the record, I did NOT receive this for free or at a discount. I paid full price for it, just like you.

   a great LOCKING trashcan
   this is a great trash can unless you have a dog who figures out how to open it, so I had to fix it so he couldn’t move it bychaining it to the wall, it is a good can, the best that I found & worth the money
